French schooling remains the best

We disagree completely with Peter Gumbe's assessment of French schools

WE disagree completely with Peter Gumbel’s assessment of French schools’ “climate of fear” (Connexion October).

The French school system has been a pleasure for our son. Having worked for a global corporation for many years, my children had the experience of schools in South Africa, Ireland, the UK, US and France.

Our youngest son spent his last three years of schooling in France between 2006 and 2009, and he told us that we should have moved to France years before we actually did, because it was the best schooling he had ever experienced.

He listed the best points as the mutual respect between both teachers and pupils, the lack of gangs and violence and, of course, the school lunches, which he really enjoyed.
