Certain fruit yoghurts made by brands Belle France and Delisse have been found to contain levels of a cancer-causing molecule above the permitted limit and have been recalled from supermarkets around France.
The yoghurts that have been recalled are:
- Yaourts brassés aux fruits mixés - Delisse
- Yaourts brassés aux fruits mixés (fruits rouges) - Delisse
- Yaourts brassés, mixés aux fruits - Belle France
- Yaourts aux fruits pulpés - No brand
They are stocked in supermarkets such as Leclerc, Carrefour, Auchan, Leader Price and various other smaller shops.
The yoghurts have been found to contain quantities of ethylene oxide. It is a carcinogen, and was classified as a biocide in Europe in 2011, La Dépêche reported.
It is generally used to mitigate the risk of salmonella and mould.
