New product recalls in France: Sausages, cakes, mineral supplements
The products have been recalled due to possible health risks or incorrect labelling
Several products have been added to an alert update for product recalls in France, including Toulouse sausages, madeleines, and magnesium supplements, all sold by national retailers.
A full list of products currently being recalled in France is available on government site Rappel Conso.
Madeleines
Paper packets of classic madeleines covered in dark chocolate, and noisette madeleines covered in milk chocolate sold in 240 gram packets containing eight cakes, made by the brand Maison Colibri, have been recalled.
This is due to the possible presence of a foreign substances such as plastic, paper or glass.
The government site says there is a “risk of ingestion causing injury in the digestive system”.
Affected packets were sold between October 4-8 in supermarkets including Auchan, Carrefour, Monoprix, Leclerc, Intermarché, Système U, Cora, and online retailer Veepee.
Their lot numbers are 4021, 4022 and 4023 (expiry date February 17, 2022), lots 3951, 3952 and 3953 (expiry date February 13, 2022) and lots 4011 and 4012 (expiry date February 16, 2022).
People who have bought the affected products are advised to throw them away or return them to the retailer for a refund.
They can also contact Maison Colibri for more information by telephone on 05 46 91 19 19 or by email on madeleine@maison-colibri.com.
Toulouse Sausages
Saucisses de Toulouse black sausages made by Les Idées du Boucher have been recalled due to incorrect labelling.
The sausages were sold in packs of two each weighing 100grams in the Self Discount area of Auchan supermarkets throughout France from October 25-27.
The lot number is 21298, and the use-by date printed on affected packages is November 24, 2021, however this is incorrect – the use-by date should be November 15, 2021.
There is also an unlisted allergen, as the sausages contain milk products that are not printed on the label.
Consumers who have bought the sausages are advised to return them to the original point of sale for a refund, or to call charcuterie producer Defial-Normival for more information on 02 32 06 37 00.
Magnesium supplements
Bottles of 90 capsules of premium magnesium made by the brand Enefis have been recalled.
The lot number on affected products is L21286 and the expiration date is October 1, 2024. They were sold by Onatera stores from October 26-29.
The product has been recalled due to the suspected presence of ethylene oxide, which can be dangerous for human consumption.
Customers who have bought the product are advised to stop consuming it and return it to the point of sale for a refund.
They can also call Onatera for more information on 04 65 26 00 60.
