French supermarket chocolate, cheese and ham recalled over health risk
Some batches of hazelnut chocolate bars, mozzarella, and Reflets de France brand ham risk making you very ill if you eat them. You can check items with the numbers here
French supermarkets Carrefour and Monoprix have issued product recalls on certain packs of ham, cheese, and chocolate that have potential to cause sickness due to E.Coli, Listeria or ingesting stones. Customers are advised to either bin them or bring them back for a refund.
All have been flagged on the dedicated government website for product recalls.
What has Carrefour recalled?
Own brand “Carrés gourmands chocolat noir noisettes entières” (dark whole hazelnut chocolate bar).
- Pack size: 200g
- Lots: 12821, 13021, 11621, 11721 and 10621
- Sold between April 30 and September 17, with expiration dates 01/05/2022 and 01/04/2022.
- Possible risk: May contain small stones, ingesting them could harm your health.
Own brand “Carrés gourmands chocolat lait noisettes entières” (milk whole hazelnut chocolate bar).
- Pack size: 200g
- Lots: 12421,12521, 10721, 10821, 12421, 12521
- Sold between 30/03/2021 and 17/09/2021.
- Possible risk: May contain small stones, ingesting them could harm your health.
What has Monoprix recalled?
Monoprix Gourmet Buffalo mozzarella (burrata di bufala)
- Pack size: 125 g
- Lot: LF1243A
- Sold between 03/09/2021 to 17/09/2021
- Expiry date: 19/09/2021.
- Possible risk: E. coli, which can cause serious severe stomach cramps and kidney failure.
Within three days of consumption, E. coli can lead to gastroenteritis, characterised by abdominal cramps and diarrhea (possibly with blood), with or without a fever”.
If you suspect anything, you are advised to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Reflets de France brand ‘jambon supérieur’ ham
- Pack size: 2 slices, 120g.
- Lot: 1243
- Sold between 31/08/2021 and 02/10/2021.
- Expiry date: 02/10/2021.
- Possible risk: May be contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes.
Advice: People who have consumed the product and have a fever (with or without headaches and muscle aches), should consult their doctor and tell them about possible listeria exposure.
Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk of serious forms with neurological complications. Listeriosis can take up to eight weeks for symptoms to develop.
