Government talks too much terror
Most French believe terrorist threat is exaggerated and the state spends too much time talking about it, reveals poll
MOST French people believe the terrorist threat to their country is being exaggerated and that the government talks too much about the subject.
A poll carried out by BVA for Canal+ found 65 per cent of those questioned thought the risk of an attack had not risen in the past few weeks and 59 per cent thought the government spent too much time on the subject.
The credibility of terrorists threats was perceived differently according to political affiliation, with 54 per cent of those on the right believing it was stronger, compared to just 25 per cent on the left.
On the left, 78 per cent thought the government focused too much on terrorism, compared to 34 per cent on the right.
The poll interviewed more than 1,000 people representative of the French population.
