Huge disparity in bank fees, average €230
Figure based on data of 300,000 users of mobile banking app Bankin'
Average bank account holders in France were charged €230 annually in 2016, according to data collected by French mobile banking app Bankin’.
The figures reveal a huge disparity between banks on the cheaper and pricier ends of the scale. Figures are not based on sometimes misleading tariffs advertised by the banks themselves, but on the feedback of 300,000 users of the Bankin’ app.
45% of bank users in France pay more than €150. The lowest tariffs are offered by BforBank - €5, Fortuneo - €8, and Boursorama - €16. At 4.47%, Fortuneo has a high global approval rating. The results show that online banks offer significantly lower charges, while gaining higher approval ratings.
At the opposite end of the scale, BNP Paribas’ fees are as high as €290 per annum.
Created in 2011, Bankin' is a French mobile app with 1.7 million users in France, England, Spain and Germany.
