Hundreds of French flights cancelled
Short-haul services are worst affected by 48-hour air traffic control strike
HUNDREDS of flights to and from French destinations - and others passing through French airspace - have been cancelled today as a 48-hour strike by air traffic controllers gets under way.
EasyJet has cancelled 118 flights and Ryanair is not operating about 250, including 70 that were due to take off or land in France.
Short and medium-haul services are worst affected, as France's civil aviation authority required airlines to cut the number of flights using French airspace by 40%.
Most long-distance routes are running normally but you should check with your airline if you were planning to travel today or tomorrow.
EasyJet's flight tracker tool can be found at this link.
A list of cancelled Ryanair flights can be found here - including details of how to rebook or apply for a refund.
Air France is running nearly all of its long-haul flights, but only 30% of short-haul services out of Paris Orly. Affected passengers can postpone their flight to any date between April 10 and 15 at no extra cost.
Further walkouts are planned from April 16-18 and April 29-May 2. The strike action had initially been planned for March but was lifted following the Germanwings plane disaster in the French Alps.
