Le Pen’s armoured car goes for 20k
Far right leader sells his armoured car online to raise funds for cash-strapped Front National party.
JEAN-Marie Le Pen has sold his armoured car on eBay for 20,050 euros.
A spokesman for the internet auction site said bidding for the 1992 blue Peugeot 605 model ended after clocking up 25 "serious" offers.
The vehicle was put up for auction last month as part of the Front National’s plans to deal with a financial crisis.
The car ad had to be taken offline several times after it was flagged for joke bids of up to 10 million euros.
The National Front has struggled with debt after its weak performance in last year's parliamentary elections stripped it of state aid.
It is now being forced to sell its assets, including its headquarters in the Paris suburb of Saint Cloud, with layoffs planned in the party ranks.
