Macron approval rating on way up
Popularity has risen in the past month - but remains at historically low levels
President Emmanuel Macron's popularity is rising, three opinion polls this month confirm.
A Kantar Sofres Onepoint survey for Le Figaro Magazine recorded Mr Macron's popularity at 22% on January 10, one percentage point higher than in December. The following day, a YouGov survey found his rating was up three points following three months of consecutive declines.
Last week, an Ifop-Fiducial study for Paris Match and Sud Radio gave the President a 30% approval rating - a four-point increase on the previous month.
According to weekly newspaper Journal du Dimanche (JDD), his collective approval based on an overall examination of all surveys now stands at 27%, four points higher than it was in December.
JDD said: "The president gained three points among the "rather satisfied" (22%) group and one among the "very satisfied" (5%). Those who said they were "rather dissatisfied" increased by one point to 32%, while the "very dissatisfied" dropped by five points to 40%."
But, while the polls show an improvement in approval for the President, all figures show his popularity remains low. January is the fifth consecutive month in which public dissatisfaction with the head of state exceeds 70%, JDD pointed out.
