DFDS is adding a third ferry to its Rosslare-Dunkirk route, increasing crossings between Ireland and France from five to seven return sailings per week.
The two additional sailings will begin to operate from mid-September, particularly benefiting those who travel by cars, caravans or campervans.
The ferry operator said the expansion was in response to growing demand for direct transport links between Ireland and continental Europe.
The Rosslare-Dunkirk service launched in 2021 and has become an alternative to travelling through Great Britain for passengers wanting a direct route between Ireland and mainland Europe since Brexit.
Glenn Carr, Director, Commercial Business Units for Iarnród Éireann, Port Authority for Rosslare Europort, said the move to seven services each way per week is due to the “growth and success of the service since its launch in 2021.”
DFDS has not yet published the timetable or fares for the additional sailings. It said the updated schedule will be available ahead of the September launch.
DFDS’s expansion comes as direct ferry links between France and Ireland are seeing renewed interest, with new services such as Hibernia Line’s Cork-Boulogne-sur-Mer route adding to existing connections.
