MP bowled over by Sarkozy's chopper
Orne MP suffers broken wrist as arriving helicopter downdraft blows her over
AN MP who was part of a reception party for President Sarkozy received a broken wrist after his arriving helicopter blew her over.
Orne MP Sylvia Bassot was waiting to greet the president who was visiting a factory in the department.
"I didn't appreciate the strength of the downdraft," she said.
"I didn't know what hit me. I was lifted up like a piece of straw, then I fell down on the concrete."
She added: "There were others waiting for the arrival but I was in the wrong place. I wasn't expecting that at all."
Despite her injury Ms Bassot followed part of the presidential visit before getting an x-ray and having her right arm put in plaster.
