New parking fines can be challenged
Many traffic wardens are using out-of-date forms which could, in some circumstances, be cancelled
DRIVERS in France could have their parking fines cancelled this summer because of a legal loophole.
The penalty for failing to buy a ticket rose from €11 to €17 on Monday, but not all of the forms mentioning the new rate have been printed.
Many traffic wardens are using out-of-date forms and correcting the amount by hand.
Lawyers have told TF1 News that the warden must sign their name next to the correction or the fine is invalid.
This week's increase in parking fines is the first since 1986 and is expected to bring in an extra €24m-€36m a year.
