Experts fix computer problem that paralysed services at 8,500 post offices across France on Monday
A computer bug that paralysed La Poste services on Monday has been fixed.
As reported, the glitch in the postal service's matrix hit transactions at all 8,500 post office counters across the country. Frustrated customers were unable to send registered mail, deposit or withdraw money at the counter, or even buy envelopes or parcels.
Staff reported being greeted with black screens when they switched on their terminals, which meant hundreds of thousands of transactions - including routine banking services - could not take place.
Experts finally corrected the problem late on Monday afternoon, and La Poste said that services would be back to normal on Tuesday.
