North of France on storm alert
The Nord-Pas-de-Calais is at risk of violent winds today warns Météo France
THERE is a risk of storms with “violent winds” in the north of France today, warns Météo France.
The departments of the Nord and the Pas-de-Calais have been put on orange alert, and there are said to be risks of strong gusts of wind up to 120kph on the coast.
The alert level means that people in the area concerned should be “very careful”, because dangerous weather is expected.
Météo France says that the winds will be of considerably lesser intensity than the recent Storm Joachim, but still likely to cause damage to buildings.
Most of the north, east and centre, and parts of the south, are on yellow alert, meaning that people should be careful if planning activities that are vulnerable to bad weather. The same applies to the whole Atlantic coast.
