Paris 2024 Olympic Games: How to get tickets and what they will cost

Details on how to get one of the millions of tickets for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games have been released by the Paris organising committee.

All tickets will be sold via a single website, with sign-ups beginning in December 2022. For the first time in the history of the Games, ticket sales will be sold only online, and will be available worldwide.

Following the statement on March 21, here is what else we know so far.

13.4 million tickets to be sold

• There will be 10 million tickets available for admission to the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11) and 3.4 million for the Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8).
• This does not include the tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, details of which have not yet been released.

Michaël Aloïsio, chief of staff of the organising committee, said: “This is a unique event that happens once every 100 years. We want to have full stadiums, for the spectator experience, but also to push the athletes."

Tony Estanguet, French three-time Olympic gold medallist and president of Paris 2024, wrote: “The athletes will need your encouragement to score, to run faster, to jump further, to surpass themselves, and make the medal count soar.”

Prices starting from €24

• One million tickets for the Olympics will be sold for just €24 each, in a bid to make the event more financially accessible (alongside plans to make it more physically accessible too)
• Applies to all sports, including the most popular
• Almost half the tickets for the Olympics will be sold for €50 or less
• 500,000 tickets to be sold for €15 for the Paralympics
• Half the tickets for the Paralympics will be sold at €25 or less

Mr Aloïsio said: “We wanted to make this rate available for all sports and in a large volume.”

Ballots to allocate sales slots

• Buyers to be allocated purchase slots of several hours for the online ticketing system
• Buyers will be able to choose the events they want, if still available, during those slots
• No direct allocation of tickets prior to the ballot draw
• A new system designed to make it easier to buy in real-time, to see what is still available, and to increase the chances of being able to get a ticket

Mr Aloïsio said: “We’ve worked on a different, innovative system, and the teams seem quite happy with it. [It’s designed] so you know exactly what you’re buying.”

Sign-ups to begin at the end of 2022

• December 2022: Registration for the first ballot draw to begin
• February 2023: First packages to be sold, marking the “official opening” of ticket sales
• May 2023: Second set of packages to be sold to allocate slots for individual ticket sales
• Last remaining tickets to be sold at the end of 2023
• Tickets for the Paralympic Games to go on sale in autumn 2023
