Report criticises EDF pay and perks

Staff are being paid bonuses with no apparent link to their performance, Cour des Comptes finds

EDF is being too generous with staff pay rises and is wasting public money, a new report by France's auditor, the Cour des Comptes, is expected to find.

The report, due to be published tomorrow but leaked to the press, says staff are being paid bonuses with no apparent link to their performance.

Pay continues to grow at EDF despite being frozen in the private sector and growing only slightly in other public-sector firms, according to the Cour des Comptes.

Staff are also given perks such as discounted electricity rates and free travel. The report says executive pay has been rising significantly. It recommends that staff are given more of an incentive to earn their bonuses.
