Ryanair to charge £5 to check in
Online check-in fee begins today – service will be compulsory by October 1
RYANAIR starts charging a £5 fee to check-in online from today.
The airline has also announced it will abolish all its airport check-in desks by October 1, making the charge effectively compulsory.
Travellers with hold luggage will leave it at a ‘bag-drop’ facility.
Passengers arriving without a pre-printed boarding pass will be charged £40 for a replacement.
As the company’s website will not allow customers to check-in more than 15 days in advance, those booking ahead will have to revisit.
The £5 check-in fee will not apply to some promotional bookings.
The airline has been criticised by the European Commission for masking a host of extra charges added during the booking process behind headline prices of £1.99 flight deals.
