Sarkozy in live TV interview
President Nicolas Sarkozy to be grilled by journalists for 90 minutes on live TV a year after taking power.
President Nicolas Sarkozy is to give a live prime-time interview on French television on Monday April 21 to discuss his first year in office.
Sarkozy will be interviewed by five journalists during the 90-minute programme to be broadcast on TF1 and France 2 television at 20.15.
One year after he was elected on a platform of sweeping changes, the President is struggling with low approval ratings and a gloomy economic outlook that threatens to dampen his reform drive.
The interview will be aired on the eve of the anniversary of the first round of voting in the presidential elections that saw him come out ahead of Socialist challenger Ségolène Royal.
He went on to beat her in the second round on May 6 and took over from Jacques Chirac ten days later.
