Sarkozy orders armoured umbrellas
Kevlar-coated brollies costing €10,000 each will keep off acid, ice-picks, stones and rain
THE FRENCH president has ordered a batch of Kevlar-coated umbrellas at €10,000 a piece.
The brollies, made by a firm in Normandy, are designed to keep off objects tougher than the rain of northern France, such as rocks, knives, ice-pick blows and acid.
The ParaPactum weighs 2.2kg compared to an average umbrella's 500g and, while not billed as bullet-proof, could significantly reduce a bullet’s effectiveness.
