Shock pics for cigarette packs

Health minister says she is “favourable” to the idea of graphic images, following UK.

IMAGES of cancers and illnesses linked to smoking could adorn cigarette packets in future.

Health minister Roselyne Bachelot has said she is “favourable” to the idea which began in the UK at the beginning of October.

The images would replace the current black and white warnings that are compulsory on packets.

A study by the University of Rennes last spring showed that the method was an efficient way of reducing the amount of cigarettes sold.
