Sound-proofing costs refunded

People who live near main airports can have the cost of sound-proofing their homes fully reimbursed

PEOPLE who live near main airports can have the cost of sound-proofing their homes fully reimbursed providing it is done before the end of 2014.

The move increases the compensation available from the previous 80% maximum and extends the end date by a year.

Residents near the 12 main airports are affected and about 60,000 homes have so far been completed.
The government said new noise tests mean an extra 26,000 homes near Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle airport can be included.

The work must be done by professionals and owners should lodge a request by registered post with the airport.
