Storm-force winds to hit southwest France
Six departments have been placed on wind alert by the national weather forecaster, Météo-France, in the south west of France.
Storm Myriam will today hit Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Gers, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Hautes-Pyrénées departments.
Winds are expected to be up to 110-120kph on the coast and in the mountains, while they could reach 150kph in the highest areas.
Météo-France advises to be careful, avoid traveling, and place outside items which could be moved by strong gusts inside and to beware of falling trees or other objects.
The alert is currently in place until 6:00 tomorrow, March 4.
