Weather conditions are expected to change dramatically this weekend following a spell of sunny weather this week, with 44 French departments placed under a tier-two yellow storm warning from midday today (May 1).
After a largely cloudy morning, thunderstorms are set to impact the Pyrenees and coastal departments in the south-west, the centre of the country, and the regions of Normandy and Île-de-France, according to state forecaster, Météo France, in their 6:00 bulletin.
Frequent showers and strong winds are forecast from northern Auvergne heading towards Hauts-de-France later this afternoon, and stormy weather is expected to move from the Pyrenees northwards into western departments of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the evening.
