TGV ticket prices to rise 2% in Jan
Dropping sales and increasing charges for using high speed lines are behind the increase
TGV ticket prices will rise nearly 2% in January.
The 1.9% increase, announced in Le Figaro is said to compensate for a rise in charges to use the railways and dropping ticket sales.
While Réseau ferré de France (RFF) which is in charge of the railway infrastructure has put its charges up 8%, according to the paper the president of the SNCF, Guillaume Pepy, has said he wanted to keep the ticket rise in line with inflation – currently 1.4%
SNCF ticket prices are adjusted once a year in January with the agreement of the majority shareholder – the French government.
