The Eiffel Tower celebrates its 130th anniversary
The Eiffel Tower celebrates the 130th anniversary of its opening tomorrow.
Several activities prioritising young people have been organised to mark the occasion.
In the afternoon Parisian children between 6 and 12 years old are invited to visit the first and second floor of the 324-metre tower with a guide who will reveal the secrets behind the history of the Eiffel Tower.
During the night French singer Jeanne Added will perform in front of the Eiffel Tower for an hour before a light show of ten minutes takes place.
The light show will be repeated from 10pm to 1am, and on Thursday and Friday nights for those who missed the first night.
The best point to see the show is on the Esplanade and Trocadéro gardens.
The Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 first as part of a temporary exhibition, the Paris world’s fair held from May 15, 1889 to November 6, 1889.
It is also nicknamed la Dame de fer (the iron lady) in reference to its iron structure.
