Topless protest at far-right meet
Activists from Femen disrupt right-wing demonstration in Paris on feast day for Joan of Arc
TOPLESS protestors have disrupted a right-wing demonstration in Paris on the feast day for Joan of Arc.
Firemen and police took half an hour to remove four activists from the roof of the Hôtel Regina, overlooking the bronze statue of Saint Joan on the Place des Pyramides.
The women belonged to the Ukraine-based feminist libertarian group Femen and unravelled a red and black banner reading "Sextermination for Nazism" before setting off flares that blew smoke into the crowds below.
Several hundred far-right activists had gathered at the statue - Joan of Arc is the adopted icon of several nationalist and ultra-conservative groups.
The protest did not end with any physical confrontation and the women were eventually escorted from the building.
