Trains disrupted by Dijon closure
Passengers face delays getting back from holiday as buses replace trains on main line through Dijon
RAIL services through the east of France are disrupted for the next two days because the main line through Dijon has been closed for construction work.
Track operator Reseau Ferré de France has decided to carry out work on a new signalbox at Dijon station, forcing SNCF to cancel or divert services during the peak holiday season.
Every TGV on the routes from Besançon and Chalon-sur-Saône to Paris has been cancelled. Corail services between Metz and Lyon are also not running.
Replacement bus services will shuttle travellers between Dijon and Beaune, where they can continue the rest of their journey by train.
The closure has had a knock-on effect elsewhere on the French rail network, affecting cross-country TGVs as far away as Nice and Montpellier.
The SNCF says delays are likely and passengers should allow extra time for their journey.
Services should return to normal at 9.00 on Wednesday morning.
If you are planning to travel, check sncf.com or call 3635 (€0.34 per minute from a landline).
