‘Ugly’ new homes play a vital role

MY WIFE and I were amazed at the sentiments in the letter against new housing (Connexion, March) as we feel a nice aspect of French life is young people’s ability to build a small affordable house and add to it as circumstances change. Something you cannot do in the UK due to the cost of land.

The writer does not say how housing demand be cut to keep her unsullied view: perhaps families should have fewer children?
