Flight delay app can make claims
Company takes percentage of compensation but airlines' systems may be just as simple
Air travellers hit by delays on EU flights in the past six years can avoid the work of claiming compensation by using a new smartphone app that shows if a payment is possible and then makes any claim due.
Called AirFair, the iOS and Android app lets users check flight numbers or booking reference before starting a claim.
It can even allow stranded passengers near-instant satisfaction by allowing them to start a claim even while waiting to board a long-delayed plane.
Compensation can give €250 for delays of more than three hours on trips of less than 1,500km and €400 for 3hr+ delays on 1,500-3,500km trips.
Working on a no-win, no-fee basis, claims management firm Allay will take 36% of any compensation. However, some airlines offer easy ways to claim compensation, even offering online forms for details.
