Number of passengers affected by delays, cancellations or overbooking in France has risen sharply in 2018
The number of delayed or cancelled flights has risen sharply in the first half of 2018, with summer flights the worst affected according to a report.
Air passenger watchdog Air Indemnité said that a total 1.02million travellers in France suffered delays, cancellations, or lost their seats due to overbooking in the first six months of the year - a 25% year-on-year increase.
Pay and conditions strikes by Air France workers, as well as air traffic controllers' protests over employment reforms this year are partly to blame for the increase.
Between July 1 and August 25 alone, a total 814,000 passengers suffered disruptions to their flight plans - compared to 654,000 in the same period in 2017, Air Indemnité said.
