Heavy traffic is expected across France on Thursday (May 7) as families look to benefit from an extended weekend break.

Roads leading into bigger cities are also facing an orange-level warning – the first tier of alerts – for traffic.

On Friday itself, warnings are limited to the Île-de-France and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regions.
