Last day to benefit from free online call with a French notaire

‘Virtual fair’ provides opportunity to ask notaires about matters relating to property, inheritance etc

The free service is part of a ‘virtual fair’ proposed by French notaires

Notaires across France are offering people the chance to ask them questions for free as part of a sector-wide event organised by the Conseil supérieur du notariat (CSN).

However, you have to be quick to get your questions in as the opportunity is only available until 19:00 today, Wednesday (December 10).

The opportunity is included as part of a ‘virtual fair’ hosted by the council, with people able to digitally “talk to a notary in complete confidence,” the CSN said.

It is possible to ask questions about buying or renting property, energy renovations, inheritance etc amongst other topics.

How does it work?

Visitors can ‘enter’ the virtual fair through the CSN website, by creating an account.

They can then use a free chat function – either by creating an appointment or waiting in the queue – to be put into direct conversation with a notaire.

The system is anonymous, meaning notaires will not have access to your information when responding to a question.

At the same time, they cannot provide lengthy explanations or extremely specific advice on certain topics, and the information they give should not be taken as total fact, with further consultation usually recommended.

As part of the three-day event, notaires also gave an overview of the property market across 2025.

In its most recent assessment of the market, the Notaires de France group urged caution over the market but pointed to positive signs, particularly in rising prices.
