RATP offers ‘real time’ data
Paris transport body RATP has made available its ‘real time’ data for the first time, to allow apps to show what is happening on metro, bus and tramway routes.
It means trip planning apps like Citymapper, Google Maps and Moovit will no longer be limited to using static timetables (the RATP’s own application, MaRATP already used ‘real time’ data).
Citymapper complained about lack of access last year and a petition gained 18,000 signatures. The 2015 Loi Macron included a clause obliging public sector companies to open up their data.
The service will be free up to 30 million data requests per month after which RATP can make a charge to recoup costs.
