The price of taxis in France is prescribed each year by a strict guide that includes specific stipulations for several major cities and common routes, such as trips to and from airports.
The new price guidance for taxis was published in the Journal Officiel, the government’s official gazette, on January 22, 2024.
These rules apply to all vehicles registered as taxis, but not to private vehicles such as Ubers or BlablaCars.
The state-regulated prices are calculated automatically and displayed on the taximeter, which must be visible to passengers.
Drivers who do not adhere to them can face fines of up to €3,000 in addition to losing the right to work as a registered taxi.
2024 changes
This year the prices have increased. In particular:

- The minimum price is now €8 (it was €7.30 in 2023)
- The collection price is now €4.40 maximum (€4.18 in 2023)
- The price per km is now €1.27 maximum (€1.21 in 2023)
- The hourly rate is now €41.06 (€38.96 in 2023)
