Swap your mortgage insurance more easily
There is good news for people with mortgages in France – you will now be able to change your loan insurance at the annual renewal date.
Formerly, people were obliged to retain the same insurance, usually one offered by their bank via a partner insurance provider. This rule was modified in 2015 to allow a change within the 12 months after obtaining a loan. Now the rule has changed again for new loans and will be extended to all existing policies from January 2018. There could be significant savings. People must check their new insurance offers the same guarantees and inform their bank by recorded delivery two months before renewal. The bank can refuse (within 10 days) but must give a valid reason.
