Town puts 25-bedroom summer camp château up for sale

A 25-bed château in the Vienne, parts of which date back to the 15th century could be yours.

The château de Chincé à Jaunay-Marigny, not far from Poitiers, is currently owned by the town of Dugny in Seine-Saint-Denis, but will be sold by auction in June. The auction period is June 4 to 8.

But, potential buyers, beware. The stated asking price of €415,740 is the starting point and it is expected that the price for the 1,045m2 building over three floors will end up being noticeably higher. And notaires fees are not included.

Several plots of land come with the building, so buyers will be bidding for a total of 69,548m2 of property.

It was once owned by 20th-century Italian artist Numa Marzocchi de Bellucci, whose works are on display in Musée d'Orsay. He was one of the artists who decorated the Le Train Bleu restaurant in Gare de Lyon.

The shell of the building is described as being in a good state, but the interiors - which still feature frescoes by the artist - have been described as 'in need of restoration'.

The building was used as a summer camp by Dugny, and has five bathrooms and 13 toilets.
