What is France’s €50 PassSport and how do you get it?
The grant was introduced as a way of encouraging young people to keep fit, while also supporting sport facilities

The PassSport is a government grant aimed at children and young adults that can be used to pay for or contribute towards membership costs at a gym, or any other sport club or facility in France.
The scheme has been renewed for the 2026-27 school year, with the grant amount reducing back to €50 after increasing to €70 last year.
It was introduced in 2021 (coinciding with the start of la rentrée) to encourage students to take up regular physical activity while also supporting the economy surrounding the sports sector. The pass also aims to make sport accessible for families and young people.
Who is eligible for the PassSport?
The initiative is available for:
Young people aged 6 to 17 years old whose family income quotient (from the CAF or the Mutualité sociale agricole) is €699 or less.
Disabled children and teenagers aged 6 to 19 years old whose families receive the education allowance for disabled children (AEEH),
Young people aged 16 to 30 years old who receive the allowance for disabled adults (AAH),
Students under the age of 28 years old who receive an annual grant from the CROUS (a public body that supports students, particularly in the areas of housing, catering and employment).
When do people receive the PassSport?
Those who are eligible will receive their PassSport code directly by email in mid-September 2026, at the address provided by the partner organisations (CAF, MSA, CROUS etc.).
A separate email will be sent for each child in the same family.
The code is delivered in the following format: 26-XXXX-XXXX
How do you use the PassSport?
The PassSport code must be presented when registering at a sports facility between September 1 and December 31, 2026.
The sports club will apply the €50 discount directly at the time of registration. If the registration fee is less than €50, the club must ensure that the remaining balance goes towards the young person’s benefit through equipment or club clothing.
If you lose or do not receive a code, you can find it by logging in to the government's PassSport portal. The code only remains valid for the 2026/2027 school year and can only be used once.
The grant can also be combined with other financial aids such as the CAF sports assistance, providing an additional grant at the start of 2027 to recipients aged 6-17 who activated their PassSport in September 2026. This support is intended to help families pay for their children’s sports equipment.
It can also be combined with schemes set up by local and regional authorities such as YEPS in Centre-Val de Loire.
Where can you use the PassSport?
The government has developed an interactive map to show over 85,000 participating clubs and sport facilities across France. Type in the name of your town to see which associations are available in your area, or try searching for a specific sporting activity. It is also possible to filter by clubs that offer disabled facilities.
If a particular club is not registered on the map, you can try directly asking this organisation whether they will accept the PassSport.
Note that depending on the type of activity, and the rules of the federation, participants may be required to provide a medical certificate proving they are capable of playing the sport.
