It is no secret that France is a beautiful country - tourism figures show France is still one of the most desirable places to visit.

It is also a country that retains these charms throughout the year.

While much of the focus is on beautiful gilded summers in the French Riviera, the timeless beauty of Paris, or wintry wonder in the Alps, autumn retains its own unique pleasures.

From the vibrant reds and orange of fallen leaves along country paths, the first signs of frost on fences in central France, or the savage beauty of the Brittany coast, there are endless gorgeous scenes across France this autumn to enjoy.

The slideshow below shows some picturesque scenes across the country.
