Baby born in football traffic

French Ligue 1 club FC Nantes sends gifts to baby born in a car stuck in traffic jam caused by fans travelling to match

PLAYERS and staff at French Ligue 1 football team FC Nantes showered a newborn girl with gifts after hearing her mother gave birth while stuck in traffic caused by fans travelling to a match.

The woman and her partner were heading to hospital when they was caught in traffic on Nantes’ périphérique on Friday, April 25.

Baby Siloé, the couple’s third child, was safely born in the car in the emergency lane, as football fans travelling to Nantes’ home game against Olympique Marseille passed by.

“One of the last images I have in my mind, before I concentrated on giving birth was of all the fans passing by, waving flags from the windows of their cars,” the girl's mother, identified only as Amandine, told Ouest France.

Senegal international and FC Nantes player Papy Djilobodji and staff at the club visited the proud parents bearing gifts, including bibs, bottles, a soft toy and romper suits, as well as a flag signed by the players.
