THE tax credit scheme for doing eco-friendly work on the home has suffered from repeated reductions in rates available, however you should not give up, says Jérémie Pras, founder of a site which helps you work out your entitlements. “Energy prices will increase inexorably,” he says - making energy-efficiency improvements likely to still be a good long-term bet.
The site www.calculeo.fr allows you to tick against kinds of work you are thinking of doing to find out what is available, whether it is income tax credits, eco-prêt loans or grants from home improvement agency Anah.

To get a tax credit, make sure you use a firm and that it uses high-performance materials meeting norms.
The credit (money off tax, or a cheque for the difference if you are not liable to pay enough) is at a percentage of the cost of the materials, and is obtained by putting in money spent on eligible work in the appropriate boxes on the income tax form.
