Fog surrounds new ferry service

Euroferries’ March 31 start for Ramsgate-Boulogne crossing looks unlikely as French port cannot confirm agreement.

EUROFERRIES Ramsgate-Boulogne service is still not confirmed by the French port, despite an announcement by the ferry company that it is due to begin on March 31.

A spokesman for the Port of Boulogne said that no official agreement to operate the service was in place.

Euroferries is still not taking bookings via its website and a spokeswoman for the company’s press agency said she was unable to confirm the March 31 startup date.

Euroferries recently announced it had acquired the 96m fast ferry Bonanza Express from shipping company Fred Olsen.

The company says it will operate four crossings daily between Ramsgate and Boulogne for cars, foot passengers, coaches and a limited amount of freight and caravans.

Express coach services will provide links between Ramsgate and London for passengers.
