FRANCE has one of the best work-life balances in the world, according to a global survey that looks behind blunt financial figures to find the real health of citizens.
France is in the top 10 for this key lifestyle indicator measured by the Your Better Life index, which is run by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It does not do so well on other indicators, especially governance and jobs, where it is in the bottom third of the 32 countries.
The survey was set up after pressure from economics Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz to concentrate less on the gross domestic product as a measure of a country’s worth.
