Heavy rain hits south of France

One man killed in flash flood near Perpignan

HEAVY rain is striking the south of France.

Fourty-one departments are on orange alert for flooding as the rain falls on already-saturated soil in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and Hautes-Pyrénées.

One father, aged 41, has been killed when his car was swept away by flood waters at Pollestres near Perpignan.
