Must I register B&B with Urssaf?

With a turnover of less than €23,000, you not have to register at the chambre de commerce or pay social charges

I HAVE just started doing bed and breakfast and am registered as a chambre d’hôtes with my mairie and the tourist office, but nowhere else.
Based on bookings this summer, I will have taken €340 this year. Clearly I am not going to make a fortune.
I will be declaring the takings in my taxes next year, but do I have to register with Urssaf too? J.G

AS LONG as your chambre d’hôtes is not more than five rooms and you cannot take more than 15 guests, you are not a professional letting business, but a small service business.

With a turnover of less than €23,000, you not have to register at the chambre de commerce or pay social charges.

Generally owners of chambre d’hôtes come under the social security category of non salariées non agricoles and should be in the Unions de recouvrement des cotisations de sécurité sociale et d’allocations familiales (Urssaf).

However, as your letting revenue is less than the 2010 threshold of €4,670, you are exonerated.
