New SNCF cab service expands

A “DOOR-TO-DOOR” minicab service is increasingly on offer to be pre-booked at French railway stations, either to transport you to your TGV train, or take you to your destination after a trip.

SNCF’s Porte-à-Porte service is bookable via the website www.pap.sncf.com. It can be reserved until 20.00 on the day before the trip.

You must already have booked the train journey as certain details from your ticket are required to book a car.

If you booked via internet you need a référence de dossier, that can be found on your confirmation email or on your e-ticket; however if you reserved in a station you fill in the date of the trip and train number instead in the section marked Je n’ai pas de référence.

SNCF states that prices start from €9.90 and you will be offered a fixed price when booking. They guarantee the driver will be on time and will get you to or from your train, even if it arrives late.
There can be up to four passengers and suitcases, with no increase in price.
You will be alerted by text 10 minutes before the driver is due to arrive.

If you booked to be collected from a station, then he or she will be waiting at the station for you (there is an option to be met from the train with the driver holding a card with your name, which is inclusive in the price at Paris Gare de Lyon and Montparnasse).

So far the service is only available to or from certain stations in large cities: six in Paris and Ile-de-France (Gare de Lyon, Montparnasse, Gare de l’Est, Austerlitz, Bercy, Massy TGV), three stations in Lyon - Saint-Exupéry, Perrache and Part-Dieu; Aix-en-Provence TGV, Strasbourg, Bordeaux Saint-Jean and Toulouse-Matabiau.

SNCF says it plans to offer the service in 20 stations before the end of this year.
