Police face jail for masking radars

Officers filmed taping binbag over speed camera they said was ‘just to make money’

TWO police officers are being questioned over attacks on speed cameras in Ain, Rhône-Alpes.

The CRS officers from Lyon were filmed by a crew from TF1's motoring magazine Automoto which showed them taping binbags over the speed cameras last November. They told presenter Denis Brogniart that the radars were sited there “just to make money”.

Police authorities started an inquiry and it was thought the two officers were traced through mobile phone or police communication signals.

Now the two, who were described as officers of integrity, face losing their jobs as well as heavy penalties and possibly prison.
