Drones to combat toxic caterpillars

Concept is tested in Mediterranean area

Researchers in Cannes are testing a new way to dispel the toxic chenilles processionnaires (processionary caterpillars) spreading across France: using drones to spray them with natural insecticide.

An experiment was due to start over a 20-hectare area near the Mediterranean resort in December, using drones in affected areas to identify the nests, and destroy them.
