New web portal opens for non-EU tourists to get French Covid QR code

The method is simpler than the previous way, which involved emailing documents to a government service

There is a new, simplified way for tourists to France from outside the EU to get a QR code to prove their Covid vaccination so they can get a health pass in France to enter places such as restaurants and bars.

Tourists can now go to this webpage and fill out the form to request the QR code.

You first have to create a password and a username to login, and then you will have to provide your name and address and upload a copy of your passport or ID card, your travel tickets to France and a copy of your Covid vaccination certificate.

It is similar to the original method that the government set up in early August, whereby tourists would have to email these documents to a service.

You can read about that method here, which is still valid: How tourists can get a Covid vaccine QR code recognised in France.

Several Connexion readers have reported delays in receiving their QR codes.

The Connexion has asked France’s foreign affairs ministry about this matter and has been told that the ministry is looking into the matter, but has had no further response.

Many Scottish tourists to France have been affected by France’s health pass rules as Scottish vaccination certificates do not have a QR code on them, unlike those issued in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Scottish government is set to roll out new vaccination certificates with QR codes on them from tomorrow (September 3). It is not yet known if the codes will be immediately compatible with France’s health pass system, but it is thought they will become so soon.
