VIDEO: wolf runs on ski slope next to skier in French Alps
The animal came within a few metres of a man going down the piste

A dramatic video showing a wolf pacing within a few metres of a skier is going viral on social media.
The clip shows the man skiing down a slope with a wolf running in his direction, before the man turns at the last moment to avoid hitting the animal.
Both the animal and the man escaped unharmed after the incident, which took place at the Flaine ski station in the Haute-Savoie department.

Coming across a wolf is an uncommon occurrence, but wild colonies do exist in all of France’s major mountain ranges.
The pre-Covid estimates of the wolf population in the Alps were between 500 and 650.
