Covid infection rates are on the rise across France, leading some French epidemiologists to call for the reintroduction of free tests for all. France saw an average of 10,000 new cases each day last week, with the positivity rate of Covid tests rising to 3.4%.
Covid tests - either rapid antigen or PCR - in France became payable in certain circumstances on October 15. Tourists have had to pay for tests since early July of this year unless they are medically exempt.
The checklist below outlines the main conditions that mean tests are either payable or free. For free tests, you may have to pay upfront and be reimbursed later.
